When filing a new complaint that Court has requested you follow some simple rules so that your filing may be effectively processed and a case created within the Court’s case management system without any problem or delay. Please be mindful of the following rules:
- Do not place any punctuation in the party name field (i.e commas, periods, or apostrophes). The one exception is that you may use hyphens.
- For business names please spell out, at a minimum, the first two words of the business name.
- For person names, do not enter professional or academic suffix titles such as DDS, MD, JD or Phd. If a business name contains these titles, then they are acceptable.
- Do not enter DBA’s in the same field as the actual company or person name. DBAs should be added by following the steps in this article – “How do I add a DBA when filing a complaint?“
Please also review the standards published by the Utah Courts for entering person and business names, available here.
