Criminal Defense attorneys in Weber and Davis County:

You are receiving this email because our court records indicate you entered an appearance to represent at least one criminal defendant in Weber or Davis County on a case with recent activity.

Effective Monday August 20, the Administrative Office of the Courts is opening our e-filing system to criminal case filings in Weber and Davis County. The system is already in use in Weber County by public defense counsel. Additional counties in the state are expected to be opened for Criminal Case filings this fall or winter.

If you also provide services on general civil cases, you may already be familiar with the Utah Courts’ E-Filing system, and may already have a user account with one of the certified Electronic Filing Service Providers. If you do not yet have an account with one of these providers, you can find more information at http://www.utcourts.gov/efiling/providers.html. The courts’ efiling web page also contains additional information pertinent to new filers. Please note that under Rule 4-503 of the Code of Judicial Administration, efiling in civil cases (including domestic) will be mandatory as of April 1, 2013.

If you are under contract with Davis or Weber County as a Public Legal Defender and have not already been contacted about user accounts, please contact Maurie Montague at the Administrative Office of the Courts, mauriem@utcourts.gov, 801-578-3851, to discuss user account options.

We hope that you will make plans to use e-filing system immediately. The system provides many benefits to the courts, attorneys, and public.

Thank You,
Utah Courts e-Filing Team
