If you have paper or hard copy documents you need to submit along with your filing, you will need to scan those documents into a PDF format. When scanning documents, you are best suited if you follow these general guidelines.

When scanning documents, you should try to minimize file size. Some simple methods in doing so is to scan at a resolution no larger than 200 DPI, scan in black and white (no color), and utilize quality scanning hardware designed for documents (as opposed to photos). Scan enabled copy machine generally do the best job.

If the document you need to scan is a photo, it is ok to scan those items in color, and at a higher resolution.

Remember, if your scanner does not scan directly to a PDF format, you will need to open the scanned image and convert it to PDF before submitting for filing.
