The Utah Courts have adopted an “auto-accept” policy which means that the vast majority of documents submitted via e-filing are automatically accepted and fully docketed within minutes of filing. As an accepted filing, your document will be recorded on the court docket and placed in the Court’s electronic document management system for immediate access and viewing via your e-filing service provider or on xChange.

Even proposed document types such as Orders or Judgments are accepted and fully docketed as “Proposed” filings within minutes of filing. These types of documents, however, having the requirement of a clerk or judge signature in order to make them official are routed to queues monitored by judicial staff. Depending on the proposed document filed, it may be hours or days before the clerk or the judge e-sign the document to make it official. Once they do, a new “signed” version of the document is recorded on the docket, and all attorneys of record are notified of the new filing.
